Our spaces
The coffee shop
The Coffee Shop is the heart of OTA, offering casual cosy dining in a home from home setting. We don’t take bookings in the Coffee Shop, it’s a relaxed space where you can enjoy a coffee or have a hearty lunch at your leisure. The floor to ceiling windows make the space great for people watching and the huge log burner keeps the space cosy in the colder months. We welcome dogs in the Coffee Shop as long as they are on a lead and not too opinionated.
the family room
The Family Room is our cosy, safe space nestled to the left of the main Coffee Shop. This den was designed with little people in mind, with doors that close, low level tables and comfy cosy seating. It makes for the perfect space for families to relax in comfort. We offer full table service where you can sit back and relax while we look after you. The family room is a calm space for everyone, perfect for breastfeeding or joining the toddlers creating masterpieces on the giant black board wall.
the loft
The Loft is our quite space. With no little people or dogs allowed it’s the perfect space to catch up with pals over coffee and a platter or kick back on our comfy seats to enjoy a book and a brew. This space is filled with soft furnishing. You can sit and relax while listening to the busy coffee shop below or watch the clouds pass by through our skylight windows. The Loft can be sectioned off with our moveable room dividers offering the ideal environment for an informal business meeting, poetry and mindfulness workshops. Hire prices available on request.
the hall
The Hall is the perfect space for every occasion. The room offers bright high ceilings and a beautiful original wooden floor. The wood burning stove keeps the space cosy during the colder months making the space perfect for every season. The Hall also offers a number of other features that make it extra special with private entry door with coded lock, private disabled access toilet and baby changing unit, cloak room for jackets, buggies and wellies as well as surround sound & access to playlists This is the perfect space for Parties, Meetings, Film nights, fitness classes and much more.
the Courtyard Kitchen
This commercial kitchen space is the hub of our private events catering and dessert making for the Scoopery. The Courtyard Kitchen is also available to hire to other small businesses. We have a variety of artisans that hire this space to make candles, cosmetics, cakes and more. We regularly host workshops and courses in the kitchen. the scoopery
The newest addition to the OTA collective, The Scoopery is the home of our Gelateria and desserts shop. Open all year round with super fresh mocktails in the summer and mulled wine in the winter, loaded hot chocolates and melt in the middle stuffed cookies. We have something for everyone! You can watch us making our delicious Gelato while you choose from our ever changing gelato cabinet. Fancy making your own Gelato? We also offer Gelato experiences for private events.

Our Supper Clubs are a celebration of great ingredients and good friends. We invite you to join us in our charming courtyard or Hall (depending on the Scottish weather) as we host our evening banquet. The meal will consist of a 3+ course menu cooked using organic, sustainable and seasonal vegetarian produce. Each course will be paired with a wildcrafted cocktail.

Can I book a table in the coffee shop?
We don’t take booking in the Coffee Shop or the outside courtyard tables. If you have a large group we will try our best to accommodate you all on the one table however in some cases we may need to split the group over a couple of tables.
Can I book the Family Room?
We don’t take bookings in the family room. Only walk ins, if you would like to book a private space then please see our bookable spaces for events and parties.

Opening hours & Holidays
We are open 7 days a week 10am – 4pm including bank holidays. Any specific dates we are closed they will be updated on social media or Google maps.
Accessibility & Buggies
We have fully accessible tables for wheelchair users as well as a disabled toilet. We ask that all buggies are left outside under the shelter to the left of the main door as we have limited space and they block fire exit paths if left inside.
Lost Property
We will hold any lost property for 1 week after this we will donate it to a local charity shop if it is not claimed. If you have lost something, please email hello@out-thereartisan.co.uk
The Playpark & Surrounding areas
Please note that the playpark is managed by Scottish Borders Council, and we have no affiliation with it, all issues should be reported to SBC.
The public toilets are provided and managed by Lothian Estates. Should there be any issues then please contact them directly.
